Season 2 of ‘Beef’ could feature Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway and young stars

“Beef” was one of the highlights of 2023 and has been winning all the awards in which it is nominated for best miniseries and in the acting categories with Ali Wong and Steve Yeun.

After creator and showrunner Lee Sung Jin confirmed that he is gathering ideas for a second season, Deadline claims that the new year could include a fight between two couples and that some actors are already being approached to star.

Thus, among the names mentioned are Charles Melton (“May December”) and Cailee Spaeny (“Priscilla”), as well as Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway, who would return to act together for the first time after their partnership in “Love and other drugs”.

So far, there is no confirmation from either Netflix or A24 about the possible names, but, according to Deadline, the matter was circulated during the last weekend, when the series won the Spirits Awards and the PGA Awards.

“Beef” shows the outcome of a traffic disagreement between two strangers. Danny Cho (Steven Yeun) is a frustrated and bankrupt contractor who clashes with Amy Lau (Ali Wong), a struggling business woman with an idyllic life. In this moving series with a touch of acid humor, the intensity of a fight consumes the lives and relationships of its protagonists.

The first season is available on Netflix.
