Toy Story 5 gets a release date and live-action Moana is postponed

New to the Disney release calendar! Toy Story 5 is officially scheduled for release on June 19, 2026 in the United States. Meanwhile, the live-action Moana has been delayed by a year.

Originally, the film was going to hit theaters in 2025, but it will now come three weeks after Toy Story 5 on July 10, 2026. The release will come just a few months after the new Star Wars film, The Mandalorian & Grogu, which arrives on May 22, 2026.

It’s worth remembering that Disney already has another major release scheduled for 2026: the third Frozen film. However, it still does not have a set release date.

Toy Story 5 was announced alongside new sequels to Frozen and Zootopia by Disney CEO Bob Iger.

“Today, I’m happy to announce that we have sequels in development at our animation studios for some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia,” Iger stated. “We’ll have more information to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning more heavily on our unparalleled brands and franchises.”

With four theatrically released films and several specials, Toy Story is one of Disney’s most successful franchises. Both Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4 surpassed US$1 billion at the box office, and the total for the saga exceeds US$3.3 billion.

All Pixar Toy Story films and specials from the original in 1994 to the most recent, released in 2019, are available for streaming through the Disney+ catalog.
