A message circulates on social media stating that German doctors performed autopsies of deaths from coronavirus and determined the cause of Covid-19 is a bacterium, not a virus. The message also says that the disease is amplified by 5G electromagnetic radiation, which causes inflammation and hypoxia.

This information is false. It is not true that Covid-19 is caused by bacteria, or that the disease is amplified by radiation from the 5G internet network. The fake message circulating on social media is a new version of an earlier rumor, in which the creators claimed that Italian doctors had discovered that the coronavirus does not cause pneumonia and that treatment can be done at home even in severe cases.

Contrary to the message, Covid-19 is, in fact, caused by a virus. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the coronavirus belongs to a family of viruses called Coronaviridae. Previously, this disease was called ‘2019 new coronavirus’ or ‘2019-nCoV’. The Covid-19 virus is a new virus linked to the same family as Sars.

According to experts, if it were caused by bacteria, the disease could be treated with the use of drugs. As with many other diseases caused by viruses, antibiotics are not effective for treatment. However, some people infected with viruses can also develop a bacterial infection as a complication. In that case, antibiotics may be recommended by healthcare professionals. To date, there is still no immunization or drug safe and proven effective against Covid-19.

It is also false that Covid-19 is amplified by 5G electromagnetic radiation. The WHO says that viruses cannot travel on radio waves and mobile networks. In addition, the disease is present in many countries that do not even want to have 5G mobile networks.

The disease is actually transmitted through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks. In addition, people can still be contaminated by also being contaminated by touching the eyes, mouth or nose after coming into contact with an infected surface.
