“Oppenheimer” was the big winner at the 2024 Oscars, which took place this Sunday (10). The Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recognized Christopher Nolan’s film, which won the Best Picture award.
Nolan was also awarded the statuette for Best Director, and saw Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. take the trophies for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively. “Oppenheimer” was also awarded Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Soundtrack, totaling 7 statuettes.
“Poor Things” came next, with 4 wins (Best Actress for Emma Stone, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Hair and Makeup). “The Zone of Interest” came away with two trophies (Best Sound and Best International Film).
“Barbie”, one of the most nominated films of the night, left the ceremony with just the statuette for Best Original Song, for “What Was I Made For?”, by Billie Eilish. The film, however, left an even stronger mark with Ryan Gosling’s memorable performance of “I’m Just Ken”. “Anatomy of One Fall” also won an award for Best Original Screenplay.
The person who also walked away with a statuette was “Godzilla Minus One”. Awarded in the Visual Effects category, the film had the first victory for the franchise in the awards. Another winner with a single statuette was “The Holdovers”, awarded in the Best Supporting Actress category, with Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
The ceremony took place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles and was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. Check out the complete list of Oscar 2024 nominees below:
