One of the biggest world music events took place last Sunday (28) in the United States. The Video Music Awards (VMA) took place in New Jersey, and was broadcast worldwide on MTV. Performances by Nicki Minaj, Anitta, Jack Harlow, BLACKPINK and Red Hot Chili Peppers marked the night. Established and up-and-coming artists were awarded in different categories, and big announcements were made. Check it out below.
The public represented an increase of 3% compared to last year. Approximately 3.9 million people watched the awards. Among the award winners of the night, Taylor Swift was the highlight, taking a record of three consecutive awards in the Video of the Year category, this time with “All too well”. Additionally, she won Best Long-Format Video and Best Direction. The blonde made an announcement on stage at the VMAs, and announced that at midnight she would have a surprise for her fans. It was about his new album “Midnights” to be released in October.
Other highlights go to Best Latin video won by Anitta, the first Brazilian and solo Latin singer to win the category. In Artist of the Year, Bad Bunny came out on top, being the first Latin singer in the post. BTS took the best group of the year. Song of the Year went to Billie Eilish for “Happier than ever”
