In a speech, Biden says that freedom is at risk and criticizes Trump without mentioning the former president’s name

President Joe Biden delivered the State of the Union address this Thursday (7), which takes place every year in a joint session of Congress.

Thus, during his speech, Biden criticized Donald Trump, without mentioning the former president’s name, and stated that freedom is at risk.

As a result, this was the last speech of Biden’s current term as president of the United States. He is expected to run for re-election in November, likely repeating his 2020 contest against Trump.

Biden opened his speech by making a joke, saying he would be home if he was smart. Afterwards, the president recalled a speech by Franklin D. Roosevelt, in 1941, during the Second World War, in which he stated that democracy and freedom were under attack.

According to the president, the whole world is once again experiencing an unusual moment in history, where freedom and democracy are at risk.

Biden then referred to the war in Ukraine and criticized President Vladimir Putin of Russia. For him, the Russian leader is bringing “chaos” to Europe.

Biden also reinforced support for Ukraine and stated that the United States needs to continue supporting the European country with the help of weapons.

“History is learned by watching. If the United States pulls out of this, Europe will be at risk, the world will be at risk. My message to Putin has been the same for a long time: we will not run away. We will not bow. I I will not bow.”

At this point, Biden made a reference to Trump, saying that his “predecessor” stated that Putin could do whatever he wanted. “This is revolting and unacceptable,” he said.
