Argentine government spokesperson Adrián Ravier declined to say whether President Javier Milei helped Brazilian Sen. Flávio Bolsonaro travel from Brazil to the United States. Asked about the matter at a news conference Tuesday, Nov. 3, Ravier called it “irrelevant” and said he did not know whether Milei was aware of Bolsonaro’s travel.

Ravier said the senator’s departure from Brazil and entry into Argentina had been formal, at least as far as the Argentine government was concerned. Bolsonaro, who is under investigation in two money-laundering inquiries in Brazil, traveled with his wife and two daughters. He went to Argentina, then boarded a private jet that stopped in Ecuador before landing in Miami on Oct. 28.

Ravier declined to provide further details, saying Bolsonaro had entered Argentina through regular channels and with valid documents. He said Argentine officials processed him as they would any traveler entering properly, and that there had been no information indicating an international arrest warrant for him.

“We have little more to say about this, and as far as we are concerned, the matter is closed,” Ravier said. He reiterated that Bolsonaro had entered through customs with appropriate documentation and that officials had allowed him to enter under the usual procedures.

The account says Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes had ordered the seizure of Bolsonaro’s Brazilian passports. Bolsonaro nevertheless used an Italian passport to travel from Argentina to the United States, according to published information. He has held dual citizenship since 2023 and used the European document to board the private jet in Puerto Iguazú, allowing him to board without having his passport retained.
