Last Tuesday (24) the names of the artists nominated for the Grammy Awards were released. With nine nominations, Beyoncé topped the list, followed by Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and Roddy Ricch, who each had six. Among surprising nominations and others already expected, some great artists such as Lady Gaga, Bob Dylan, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd ended up being left out and the singer did not miss the chance to criticize the Academy.
In a post shared on his social networks, the musician said that the organization “remains corrupt” and also said that the organizers of the awards owe transparency to him, his fans and the industry.

The Weeknd won several awards recently for the work on its album “After Hours”. The track “Blinding Lights”, for example, was one of the most played on the radio and the artist will be the attraction of the interval of the next Super Bowl, which happens in 2021.
In a statement published by the American magazine “Hollywood Reporter”, the interim president of the Recording Academy, Harvey Mason Jr., commented on the absence of Weeknd among nominees. “To be clear, voting in all categories ended long before Weeknd’s presentation at the Super Bowl was announced, so there is no way it would have affected the nomination process,” he justified after the TMZ website stated that the presentation on Super Bowl could have influenced the decision of the Grammy organization.
“There was a record number of applications this year, unusual and competitive. We understand that Weeknd is disappointed not to be nominated. I was surprised and empathized with what he is feeling. His music this year was excellent, and his contributions to the music community and the world were worthy of everyone’s admiration. ”Concluded Harvey Mason Jr.
Presented by Trevor Noah, the 63rd Grammy Ceremony will take place on January 31st.
