Six people were killed and dozens injured in a shooting in Krakow, Poland, on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026. Local authorities said a man drove into the Main Market Square and fired several shots indiscriminately while the vehicle was still moving. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called the incident a tragic shooting and said police were investigating.
The police department responsible for the area reported that the dead included four women and two men. Police officers who were patrolling the square were among those injured. Authorities had not provided further details about the wounded.
Police shot the suspect, arrested him and took him to a hospital. He was identified as a Polish citizen and remained in police custody. Images shared on social media showed people lying on the ground as others attempted to provide first aid.
Tusk said police were examining the suspect’s background and all the circumstances of the attack. In a social media statement, he offered condolences to the victims’ families and praised officers who acted at risk to their lives. He also urged politicians across the political spectrum not to exploit the tragedy, adding that authorities would clarify the circumstances of the crime.
