A Russian airstrike on a school used as a shelter and humanitarian aid distribution point killed 29 people and injured five in Ukraine, while 48 people were reported missing. The bombing struck the village of Komyushuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region on Monday night, Nov. 2.

Search-and-rescue teams were still looking through the rubble on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Mykhailo Semikin, head of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast Military Administration, confirmed the casualty figures in a post on Telegram, saying 48 people were considered missing.

Semikin described the scale of the tragedy as devastating and said each number represented a person and a family. He added that some families had lost loved ones, while others were still waiting for news about them.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed sympathy for the victims’ families. He said people remained trapped under the debris and that rescue work would continue as security conditions allowed. Zelensky also warned of the threat of Russian follow-up strikes, alleging that Russia carries them out repeatedly.
