Eduardo Bolsonaro, a former federal representative whose mandate was revoked, praised President Donald Trump as a “natural-born leader” in a video posted Sunday, Nov. 1. Trump said the previous day that he had no plans to meet with Brazilian Sen. Flávio Bolsonaro and called Brazil’s election “a disgrace.”

In a post on X accompanying the video, Eduardo thanked Trump and said Brazil was no longer a democracy, adding that he believed the rest of the world would increasingly recognize that. In the video, he praised Trump’s “clear view” of the situation in Brazil and questioned the presidential election that resulted in President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s reelection.

Eduardo also challenged the outcome of the election in which Flávio was defeated, saying it showed that there was no democracy. His comments followed Trump’s remarks about Flávio and the election. Eduardo has been living in self-imposed exile in the United States since March 2025.

The former lawmaker also questioned a Federal Police notice ordering Flávio to hand over his passports. The notice followed an order from Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. Eduardo said the request to seize Flávio’s passport came seven minutes after the official election result was published, and said Federal Police officers served the notice while Flávio was visiting their father, who is under house arrest.
