Two helicopters collided during a landing attempt Tuesday morning, Nov. 3, in Periche, Nepal, near Mount Everest. Indian tourist Vasanth Kumar Balaramudu, 47, died at the scene, and three other people were injured, authorities said.

Video of the incident shows the helicopters approaching from opposite directions. One began a rapid descent as the other moved in to land. Seconds later, the rotor blades struck the other helicopter, causing the collision.

Balaramudu was a passenger aboard one of the aircraft. The injured people were taken for medical care, but no information about their condition was immediately available.

Mukesh Dangol, director general of Nepal’s Civil Aviation Authority, said initial reports indicated a possible communication failure between the pilots. The incident is under investigation.
