Nikki Haley drops out of her candidacy, and Trump becomes the Republicans’ sole candidate for president of the United States

Date:

Nikki Haley, the former US ambassador to the UN and pre-candidate for US president for the Republican Party, announced this Wednesday (6) that she will leave the electoral race.

With his withdrawal, Trump becomes the only Republican pre-candidate and even closer to being confirmed to run for president for the party. Haley was Trump’s only rival in the party’s internal dispute.

The now former candidate announced her withdrawal in a statement this morning, after the North American press reported that she would leave the race early.

As a result, the decision to withdraw, according to the North American press, was driven by the results of Super Tuesday, the simultaneous vote in 15 states held on Tuesday (5) which resulted in an overwhelming victory for Donald Trump on the Republican side.

Trump won most states. Super Tuesday elects about a third of the delegates — who represent the Republican Party candidates — in the running. Of the 15 states that held caucuses, Trump emerged victorious in 14, including California and Texas, the country’s two largest electoral colleges. Haley won only in Vermont.

This morning, her campaign was already under pressure to withdraw, but declared that Nikki Haley was “honored” by the voters’ support.
