Most audiences prefer to wait to watch films on streaming, says study

Date:

The public’s relationship with cinema and streaming is one of the most studied subjects in the American entertainment market today.

Now, a survey has revealed that the majority of viewers, around two in every three, prefer to wait for a film to premiere on a digital platform instead of going to the cinema.

As a result, the study was published exclusively by IndieWire, and showed that the impact of social isolation during the pandemic continues to bear fruit for Netflix, Prime Video and co.

“The competition between streaming services and Hollywood continues. While we still have evidence of loyal moviegoers given the box office numbers, our study shows that out of every three people, two prefer to watch movies at home,” said Alli Brady, Vice -president of HarrisX, responsible for the survey.

“Although this causes a buzz in the industry, it also means that the search for content tends to increase – almost half of consumers say they watch movies on streaming services weekly, more than seven times the number of people who do so by going to the cinema “, he added.
