Biden says Netanyahu is ‘harming Israel more than helping’ with Gaza stance

Date:

United States President Joe Biden said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “hurting more than helping” Israel with his stance in the Gaza Strip. The statement was made during an interview with the TV channel MSNBC, on Saturday (9).

In a critical tone, Biden stated that the number of deaths in the Palestinian territory is “a big mistake” and contrary to what Israel represents.

“He has the right to defend Israel, the right to continue persecuting Hamas, but he needs to pay more attention to the innocent lives that are being lost as a result of the actions taken,” he said.

Therefore, during the interview, the American president stated that a possible Israeli invasion of the city of Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip, would represent a “red line”. More than 1 million Palestinians are in the region.

Despite the statement, Biden said he will not leave Israel and stated that he does not intend to cut off arms supplies to the country.

It is worth remembering that the president also asked for a temporary ceasefire during Ramadan. Negotiations were initiated with the help of a group of countries, but no agreement has been reached so far.
