The Weeknd headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in the middle of a pandemic.
But the singer is still on cloud nine, hours after his epic performance as his latest tweet -‘still buzzing from last night. i couldn’t stop smiling the whole performance. thank you @pepsi @NFL @RocNation for believing in me to bring a fresh new take on the halftime show. XO we did it !’ the 30-year-old tweeted.
Th performance was surrounded by masked dancers and a robot choir during his COVID-friendly Super Bowl LV halftime show in Tampa Florida on Sunday – as he led the superstar line-up also featuring Miley Cyrus and H.E.R.
The I Can’t Feel My Face hitmaker appeared on stage at the Raymond James Stadium in a floating black convertible surrounded by flashing neon signs reminiscent of Sin City – before dancers wearing bandage masks joined him on stage amid the ongoing pandemic.
Emerging from the vehicle, The Weeknd – who recently admitted he spent $7million of his own money on the extravaganza – belted out the lyrics to his hits in front of a sequin-clad robot choir and an moody cityscape – located high up in the stadium bleachers.
Before diving into the songs off his latest record After Hours, the Grammy Award-winner treated fans to renditions of his earlier hits, such as Starboy and The Hills.
